Developments in gingival health screening and periodontal therapies are ongoing in the world of dentistry. These advances not only positively affect the long-term stability of cosmetic dental work but also a person’s general health. Achieving excellent gingival health is proving ever more important especially as gum disease is having a higher contributory link with many medical conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, preterm delivery in pregnancy and others.

Such developments have brought about the rapid expansion of the role and scope of advanced dental hygiene services in dental practices and with that the introduction of new dually qualified personnel, Dental Hygienist/Therapists. Dental Hygienist/Therapists’ advanced qualifications enable them to provide a much wider scope of advanced hygiene therapies that benefit our patients.  These include:

  • Advanced preventative gum therapies
  • Caries preventative programs
  • Simple fillings in deciduous or permanent teeth
  • Advanced oral cancer screening
  • Extraction of deciduous teeth
  • Fresh Breath Clinics
  • Providing temporary pain relief for teeth
  • Re-cementing crowns as an emergency.
  • Administer local anaesthesia.
  • Stain Removal

We are sorry to say that Lisa, our current dental hygienist will be leaving the practice in the next few weeks. Lisa has been with us for many years and has been very important in helping us develop all our hygiene services to what it is today. We would like to thank Lisa for all her hard work and wish her every success for the future.
